Yesterday I submitted a speaker proposal to NAHB for IBS 2027. The session is called "How Home Builders Use Content and AI Workflows to Generate Leads Without Ads"

It felt like the right pitch because it's the thing I keep watching builders get wrong, and keep getting asked about.

Most builder content fails before anyone reads it. Not because the writing is bad or the photos are weak. It fails because there's no system behind it. You're producing content to have content, not to rank, not to answer the questions buyers are actually typing into Google, and definitely not to show up when someone asks ChatGPT "best custom builder in [city]."

That last one matters more every month.

There's a category called AEO -- answer engine optimization -- that covers how your content gets surfaced by AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews. Most builders have never heard of it. The ones who have aren't doing anything about it yet. That's a window, and it won't stay open.

The workflow I've been refining combines editorial strategy, SEO, AEO, and an AI content production system. Not AI writing your content for you. AI as infrastructure, so one person can run an operation that used to require three without the quality falling apart.
